BLOCKING TRACKERS BUT ALSO BLOCKING FRIENDS INFO ON FACEBOOK

I am new to Ghostery having added it through Firefox when I installed it yesterday. I use AOL.com as my home page and for e-mail. If I whitelist AOL I get all kinds of ads on the homepage....also on the AOL site, there is a "large" picture of current news items and then other pictures and then the normal local news, etc. below. If I click to un-Whitelist the site, the picture goes away and all I get is a white space and then the other stuff further down. Also, on Facebook, none of my friends are showing on my games, I cannot send or receive lives, etc. One friend I cannot even open her comments on my page or look at her likes on my page. If I whitelist FB I again am being tracked as the reports come up...I do NOT want to be tracked and I do NOT want to see ads...hence why I accepted Ghostery as an add on - i used another tracker preventer before but I do like ghostery better - it catches more and I do not have tracking cookies when I run a scan, but if this cannot be fixed Iwill have to forego Ghostery and go back to other program. I do also have Ad Blocker, Ad Blocker Plus, Empty the Cache button as add ons thru Firefox. I just downloaded Firefox yesterday and had no issues until today....it's just on-going and is getting annoying. I cannot even get my friends list to invite to games on my FB. Not sure if it is Ghostery or one of the other add ons - I have also contacted them - thank you.

    Hi Linda,

    Thanks for using Ghostery!

    There is a lot there, so I'll do my best to help identify issues.

    1. On aol.com.. the large news picture is controlled by GravityInsights. So.. you can whitelist that one tracker on that page so that feature works while continuing to block elsewhere.

    2. For Facebook games you need allow the FacebookConnect Tracker. That may or may not be the root cause here.. (since I can't see your tracker count)

    Lets start there and see what happens when you make those selection changes.
