CLEAN UNINSTALL
I can't uninstall Ghostery. Using Firefox 3.6.17. Deleted from Control Panel, Programs file and regIstry and its icon still shows up. This is very annoying.

Hi luyben, to remove Ghostery from Firefox, you need to open Firefox addons and click remove next to Ghostery entry. To open Addons menu press CTRL + SHIFT + A.Comment

I did that (uninstalled from Firefox Add-ons), as well as uninstalled from Control Panel, deleted the Programs file, and cleaned the registry. GHOSTERY displays an icon, is still tracking. The kind of program that does not allow users to remove it is among the most insidious. You wonder what else its creators are doing under the guise of offering protection.
This really is unethical at best.-

Lets back up a little here. Removing something from Firefox addons menus removes Ghostery from Firefox, removing Ghostery from Control Panel implies that you also had IE version installed and have removed it. So, for which browser are you trying to uninstall it for this time? Once you provide that I should be able to recommend the next steps.
In Firefox, after you happen to press Remove next to the addon, you have to restart Firefox for the uninstall to take effect. After the restart, check the addons menu and let me know if its still there? -
