Bug. The alert bubble stays on even when disabled on my android phone

N.B. The following applies to all versions of Ghostery for Firefox from 5.0.0 through 5.4.1, when used in conjunction with Firefox for Android. It is not relevant to desktop users.
Although Firefox makes a distinction between phones and tablets, Ghostery ignores this, and always assumes it's running on a phone [with a small screen]. Consequently, the alert bubble ("purple box") never appears on Android, regardless of your Options settings. Hopefully, this omission will be addressed in some future release.

Mach Fiver November 06, 2014 06:44there is a small blue ghost and a number (I am assuming for trackers) at bottom right. So I don't know what you are talking about exactly. When I click on the ghost icon it says "to remove alert bubble tap ok. To permantly disable go to thievery options" with two buttons OK and cancel. So you can understand my confusion when you say it isn't there. Ironically (unless you are messing with me) I hear ghosts don't exist yet it is there. I must be haunted Lol.EditDeleteRemove

Eric P. Scott November 06, 2014 07:20That's not the alert bubble, that's the Ghostery button. It's subject to the somewhat confusing "Show Ghostery button in Navigation Bar" option. (Due to limitations in the Add-on SDK on Android, it isn't currently possible to implement the desktop behavior, so it's been relocated to the lower right instead.)EditDeleteRemove

We are working on a stand-alone Android app that we hope to have out very soon. You will have a lot more control in that version.. Stay tuned!
