Firefox crashes if Ghostery enabled and yahoo email loaded
After using ghostery for a very long time with no problems recently firefox started regularly crashing. I finally tracked down the problem to cpu going to 100 percent followed by a crash when ghostery was enabled and yahoo email (http://us.mg6.mail.yahoo.com) was loaded. I worked around the problem by whitelisting the site but didn't like having to do that. FYI I am running ghostery 2.8.3 and firefox 16.0.1 on a 64 bit Linux pc.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for using Ghostery!
I know you said it was crashing when Ghostery was enabled, but do you have any other add-ons installed/active when this was happening? Did it crash as you logged in to mail? or at some point after that? -

Other add-ons were enabled but if and only if both ghostery was enabled and yahoo was loaded did the cpu go to 100% and firefox crash. Under those two conditions there would sometimes be a few minutes before the firefox crash but sometimes when restarting firefox with yahoo email as the default tab to load it would be immediate. When starting firefox without the email tab, on loading the email the time to crash varies between one and ten minutes but usually closer I isolated the problem by disabling add ons until the problem went away when I disabled ghostery. As I mentioned whitelisting yahoo email in ghostery completely prevents the problem. With ghostery enabled I can actually toggle cpu usage between near zero and 100 percent by closing and re-opening yahoo email. This whole issue makes me really wonder what yahoo is doing to create this problem but I have no doubt that their "solution" would be just don't use ghostery. Granted there may be other web pages that have the problem but yahoo email is the only one I've identified.

I don't know if this is important but after removing the site from the white list, a few minutes ago there were 5 things blocked which I didn't make a note of but now there is only one: right media.

as before, after re-whitelisting the site cpu usage went back down.
