I have the latest version of Google Chrome (Version 40.0) and my Ghostery settings do not save in Chrome once I exit/clear my history. I thought once Ghostery updated it might solve the problem, but it's still happening.
I have tried everything I can think of; uninstalling Chrome, uninstalling Ghostery and then reinstalling both items. I've also tried going into my settings in Chrome to see if somehow they are deleting my settings, but they're not. I have no idea why my Ghostery settings won't save. Can someone help me?

It sounds as if you have chrome on a personal computer rather than on a chromebook. If that is the case then you might have to have Ghostery (specifically) for YOUR MAIN computers operating system. Chromebooks run only their own (OS) so it may be if you use Mozilla, Explorer or Windows that you need the app (or extension) which is compatible for your overall operating system. Like if you have Windows (7, 8, etc.) you need the correct Ghostery app that fits the underlying operating system, in which Chrome would actually only be an extension the same as Ghostery itself. And another thing to consider are the other apps or extensions you may use because they (or you rather) may be actually allowing them to inadvertently letting those other apps or extensions override Ghostery. If you read about it (ghostery) it warns you of this. I use it and like it, but it can interfere with other things such as apps or extensions already in use (or others you download after the download of ghostery). I recommend trying to disable it or other things (apps or exs) to see how it changes your computers overall performance.

Roger B just shared this idea in Ghostery (Chrome Extension):
Add click.hexagram.com to the list of advertising trackers.
(I don't know if this will help but maybe)
Example site: http://n4g.com/news/1680057/metal-gea...
There will be "Sponsored" ads on the page served from click.hexagram.com
The ads show up in both Chrome and IE.
(I use Ghostery basically for advertisements and the cookies left behind by sites I visit because all they do is take up space regardless of your base OS((op system)). Some OS's, apps or extensions require you (or an override) in order to use them. That's why so many or most are free--- because they insure being able to collect information or send you bs as payment for them and their proper function. It is what the internet is actually based on afterall...Good luck! -

On the Clear History option, try unchecked "Hosted App Data".. and see if that solves it. I have mine checked and don't lose settings. Do you have other extensions active?

Hi! Thank you both for the suggestions... I've tried what both of you said and it doesn't work. My settings for Ghostery are still erased when I clear my history.
Oh, and I do not have any other extensions installed. Just Ghostery.- view 1 more comment
