I'm using Firefox and Vista (but it probably doesn't matter).

If Ghostery is enabled: "Loading" permanently appears and there's no search.
if Ghostery is disabled: the search works as expected.

I had this happen to me a few days ago at another site but I don't remember which one. If the amazing happens and I remember - I'll post an example at that site too.

Hi A989389834,
If you'd like to use Google search widgets on websites, please unblock Google AJAX Search API and Google Custom Search Engine. -
-
The same problem has been reported by users of our community website www.techsupportalert.com.
With millions of websites using the Google Site Search service it really should be permananetly removed from the Ghostery default Widget Block list. Besides there is nothing insidious about this service anyway.

Hi Ian,
Ghostery does not block anything by default; you have to tell Ghostery what to block.
Ghostery tracks "trackers", or third-party page components used on many websites, and thus capable of tracking you across many websites.
Some trackers are useful to some people. Ghostery's responsibility is to keep making choosing what to block and what not to block easier, but Ghostery does not choose for you. -
-
When I visit my tech sites and want to do a search I must disable Ghostery before any results of my search are visible! I then need to re-enable Ghostery to use its benefits. I didn't have that problem until the latest version update.

It would be nice to be able to temporarily disable only a select tracker, or disable a select tracker for a select page. This is a great use case why such functionality would be useful.
-
You can do that with the selective whitelisting feature.. It auto-whiteslists a single tracker for a given YRL.
