Ghostery does not work in incognito mode in Chrome 31

Hi,

It seems the following question has been 'answered', but I fear its importance might have been underestimated:

My question is: is this a known bug? It's very annoying, because it makes Ghostery totally uneffective in incognito mode.

Thanks,
MF

  • Hi Pete,

Sorry about the delay in my answer.

First off, I see you have replied to this thread then deleted your first reply - I have received an email to notify me the first time, in which you confirmed you also see what I am seeing with Chrome 31. So you DID see what I am seeing, at some point. Maybe we can work together to repro the issue.

My Chrome version is 31.0.1650.57. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a 32-bit computer. Using Ghostery 5.0.0, just like you. 'Allow in incognito' is enabled. As soon as I launch a separate browser instance, NOT in incognito mode, the incognito instance has Ghostery enabled. I admit this is weird, but this is real.

    • Hi,

      Alright then.
I think I got rid of the problem.
When I experienced the problem, I had the GWT developer plugin 1.0.11357 installed (an old version - it's been a year since I haven't used it). It was installed, enabled, but not allowed to run in incognito mode. So it should not be a factor of any kind.

Well, I changed the settings to have it be disabled permanently. Problem solved. So it seems to me the problem might be coming from Chrome.

It's 4pm now and so far so good, I'll report back if I see anything suspicious.

Great news! I'm going to go try and install that and see if it happens for me too.
