Ghostery has its own preference on who NOT to block. FAIL!!!
Why does Ghostery uncheck certain things that I had checked every time Chrome/Chromium starts up, or there is a browser update? I am not going to go through the entire list of things to block each time the browser does this. UNINSTALLED!!!

Hi PaulS,
It sounds like something else is deleting your Ghostery preferences (kept in localStorage). Do you have any kind of "cleaner" programs/extensions that would do that? You have to tell them to leave your extensions' settings alone. -

Hi Alexei,
Sorry for the attitude on my part, just some sensitivity about the matter.
Anyway, this was happening while I was using Chromium (the free/open-source version of Google Chrome. Mac version) and it did not happen while I was using Google Chrome. Both Chrome and Chromium have the same extensions.

To clarify, are you losing all your Ghostery preferences on browser restart?
Or is the problem that when new bug definitions are added to your local Ghostery (whether from bug list auto-updating, or clicking "update now" on the options page), the new bugs are not blocked by default?
If this is about blocking by default, we plan on adding a checkbox to control default blocking behavior in the next major release. -

Yes. Whenever Chromium starts up, the same few preferences are unchecked. Since it was always the same, I figured there was some update to Ghostery and now you have business partners and their influence overrides mine. I just have to remember never to post online before 9AM lest I sound like an idiot.
Anyway, like I said in the first paragraph, only upon Chromium browser startup. BUT, this doesn't happen in Google Chrome. I do not know why, as AFAIK both are identical, except for Chromium not reporting to Google user info and such. -

Do you get Ghostery's walkthrough page on every browser start?
What other extensions do you have installed? -
-
In Chrome, no. In Chromium, I think so. That is probably how I noticed it was happening. The behavior doesn't occur in Chrome. I tested Chrome, and all is fine. Only in Chromium was this happening in browser start, and I think I was getting the waltkthrough page.

Chrome has the same, except Chrome has Ghostery, whereas Chromium no longer does. -

Hmm, strange. I don't know which extension would cause the conflict here.
You could try reinstalling Ghostery to see if the issue still occurs. If it does, you could try disabling all other extensions and restarting to see if it's a conflict, in which case you could try re-enabling them one-by-one until you find the culprit.
Sorry for the trouble! -

I won't bother. Like I said, Ghostery works fine in Chrome, it is jsut in Chromium that I have the issue. It is probably a Chromium thing, as another extension (1Password) doen't work well in it, but does in Chrome.
Thanks for all your help! You've been awesome. -

You're welcome!
Chrome and Chromium are almost the same, so I don't think using one over the other would make much of a difference.

That is what has me confused. But all I know is what I'm seein'. Ghostery and 1Password work just fine in Chrome, but not so well in Chromium.
