Ghostery IE8 v2.4.2 load failure

Any hint on what might cause this problem?
I have IE-8 and Windows XP. When I try to load Ghostery, the loading screen pops up and sits quietly for maybe 5 seconds, then things go south. Most times (~5 out of ~6), a couple things go by on the screen in . At that point IE locked up and I had to use ctrl-alt-del to kill IE.

  • Well, it appears that this system severely limits the amount of text that you enter, and only loads the first 50 or so and last 50 or so characters. I guess I cannot report the problem. Oh well.

I have IE-8 and Windows XP. When I try to load Ghostery, the loading screen pops up and sits quietly for maybe 5 seconds, then things go south. Most times (~5 out of ~6), a couple things go by on the screen in <0.1 seconds, and IE would give a message saying IE was trying to recover the page and then another screen pops up saying "We were unable to return you to ghostery.com. Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem." One time the process locked up and I was able to see the following messages: "This website wants to install the following ad-on: Ghostery IE plugin ActiveX installer from Evidone Inc. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to install it click here." I was not given a chance to do the clicking because simultaneously an error popped up saying "The instruction and "0×04870068" referenced memory at "0×04870068". The memory could not be written". At that point IE locked up and I had to use ctrl-alt-del to kill IE.
