I’m frustrated

Ghostery makes Firefox unresponsive

I am using Firefox 23.0.1 on Windows 8 64 bit with Ghostery 5.0.4 extension. Every other installed extension was disabled for testing.

When I open the following site: http://www.nyuuz.hu/ Ghostery makes Firefox unsresponsive for several seconds. During this period the tab name is replaced with "Connecting..." and Firefox uses 18% CPU (1 of 8 CPUs is 100% utilized).

The same problem occurs on my workstation. That has a far more powerful CPU: Core i7 3930K and Windows 7 64 bit (same version of Firefox and Ghostery) but still produces the same effect.

With disabled Ghostery the page loads without delay and there is no "Connecting..." phase. The problem exists since I updated from Firefox 22, but I am not sure if it is related to Firefox or Ghostery update. I haven't followed the Ghostery updates.

  Can you try creating a new profile and see if you still see the same spike? I'm wondering if your profile has become corrupt.

  I have just deleted my Firefox profile and created a new one. After Firefox synchronized my addons I configured Ghostery and AdBlock. Now it works perfectly with Ghostery version 5.0.4 and all other extensions enabled (including AdBlock).
