Ghostery no longer blocking many trackers by default?
I've noticed lately that on many web pages Ghostery is reporting that it is not blocking all the web bugs by default; sometimes 2, 3, or 4 trackers are still active. I thought at first that Ghostery didn't know about them, but it seems to have the information. I of course block them right away... but why does Ghostery not block them all by default?

markhood134 October 26, 2010 22:57I use FireFox 3.6.11 and Ghostery 2.4. I've since found that I can go to the Ghostery options and enable blocking for all the listed trackers. I was surprised that many of the listed bugs are not blocked by default though.EditDeleteRemove

It's pretty easy to get into a state where "Update bug lists" causes any new bug definitions not to be blocked initially.
Did you start with version 2.4, or update from a previous version (e.g. 2.3.1)?

mark, if you've updated the bug lists at all (or updated the extension to at least v2.4) then the new bugs that have been loaded to you are automatically unblocked.
For the remote updates (extension updated not included), Ghostery checks if you block everything, and if you do, the default bug mode will remain block-all. If you selectively block, the list will be updated and the new bugs will not be blocked until such time that you encounter it on a site. -
