Ghostery not only blocking trackers, but useful elements too. :-(

Running Safari 5.0.5 R88594, Ghostery blocks some elements such as the product selection in www.apple.com/fr/mac/ or the GrooveShark player. Maybe it's about a conflict with AdBlock, I've heard about it visiting the topics.
( Please forgive an ignorant french user for its bad english )

  • Hi hectorsuzanne,

If you have blocking enabled, sometimes you will block something that is required for some part of the site to function properly.

This could be because a piece of (let's say) analytics code has gotten integrated too closely into, perhaps, a picture slideshow or a next page link.

To fix an affected page, try unblocking some of the "bugs", or adding the entire page to Ghostery's list of sites exempt from blocking.

Also, we are working on reducing the number of conflicts caused by blocking by having Ghostery replace certain bugs with empty or "surrogate" versions. This feature is still in development. You can help us with this effort by reporting specific examples of broken sites.

Where does the GrooveShark problem occur?

Thanks for writing. Your English is fine!

  • Thank you !
On grooveshark, the player couldn't load and indicate that I have some kind of "Flash blocker" and that I needed to disable it.
