Ghostery Options Page Broken
I cannot access the ghostery options page after updating firefox. The options page either closes immediately or firefox freezes. After freezing, firefox starts to allocate huge amounts of system memory to itself and I must terminate the process manually.

Which version of Firefox are you using? e.g. 3.5.17, 3.6.14, 4.0b12
On what platform? Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, other?
Did you update from within Firefox, by downloading a new installer, or some other way?
If you updated from within Firefox, uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh copy may fix the problem.

A reinstall of ghostery didn't help....
I updated to firefox 3.6.14 on windows 7 professional from within firefox.
I would really rather not reinstall firefox at the moment. I am using the download history box to organize files, and I don't want to organize my downloads folder. I just don't have the time.-
Sorry if I wasn't clear: I wanted you to reinstall Firefox.
There are basically three ways to end up with 3.6.14:
- Complete installation using Firefox Setup 3.6.14.exe (~8.2MB)
- Using Firefox 3.6.13's built-in updater ("partial" update, ~2.5MB)
- Using the built-in updater from an earlier release ("complete" update, ~11MB)
While all three methods are supposed to produce the same final result, the updaters can leave you with incomplete or corrupted installations. 3.6.14's release was delayed two weeks when some testers ended up with DLL mismatches after updating. (This is something peculiar to Windows; no other platforms were affected.)
Reinstalling Firefox shouldn't affect History, Bookmarks, Downloads, etc. Back up your files first if you're worried about it. (Backups are always a good idea...)

1Bill, could you provide a list of other addons you have running on Firefox? What happens if you go to the Options page directly (chrome://ghostery/content/options.html)? Whats the version of Ghostery? -

adblock plus, adobedlm, beef taco, better privacy, cache viewer, daily dilbert, digital persona extension, download helper, element hiding helper for adblock plus, https everywhere, imacros for firefox, ImTrasnlator, Java Console, Link Status, NoScript, and SkipScreen are the other extension I have enabled. All are up to date.

If I go to the options page directly it freezes as described above.-
Bill, its appears that Digital Persona extension is the one hanging Ghostery options. I'm not sure why since I was not able to look into DP source code, but this is a third report of this extension screwing with our new options page. Let me know which version you have and download for it (AMO contains outdated xpi) and I'll look closer, but at least we know the culprit.
To test, disable DP extension and try Ghostery Options. Let me know if this helped. -

It came with the laptop.... so I don't know where to download it.
Disabling it did fix the problem. thanks -
