To see the problem you can use the extension about:addons-memory to get a clear picture of the memory usage attributed to Ghostery, or you can look at the detailed reporters in about:memory.
When you first start Firefox, Ghostery will use less than ten megabytes, but it will gradually increase over the course of a week; in my profile it is currently using 44 MB, making it the largest consumer among my extensions. (The second biggest is Adblock Plus, which uses 27MB--importantly, this number has not changed throughout a week of regular browsing; plus, it has a much larger database than Ghostery.)

Greetings!
Thanks for using Ghostery!
I'll take a look and report back to you. Thanks for the feedback! -

Confirmed with Firefox 20 and about:addons-memory. Ghostery slowly climbs from <5MB to (presently) 38 over the course of a few days.

I'm afraid the issue has not been resolved in Ghostery 2.9.4. In the table below I've noted down the memory usage progression (according to about:addons-memory) over time.
Ghostery Adblock plus
24h 12.22 MB 25.40 MB
26h 14.63 MB 25.49 MB
36h 22.56 MB 25.71 MB
48h 25.91 MB 25.77 MB -

Hi, thanks for reporting. We've got several leaks still unplugged in this release, but at this time they are considered minor. Nonetheless, next major release of Ghostery for Firefox (v3.0) uses jetpack and has better memory management as well as less leaks.
