ghostery wil not uninstall
I went to the control panel, removed the program, and it's still showing up on my tool bar with the bubble! I cannot get rid of it for some silly reason and it is annoying.

Hi Amy,
Thanks for trying Ghostery!
I'm assuming this is Internet Explorer? Have you rebooted your system? and you still see the Ghostery icon in your navigation bar? -
-
Yes, I'm runnin IE and I have rebooted twice. Ghostery is still in my tool bar. when I go into my control panel to add/remove it does not show up in the list. what do I do?

What do you see when you select Toolbars from your top menu? Whats active?

the ghostery icon is on my tool bar and the bubble still pops up. I went to Customze tool bars and put ghostery on th remove side, but the bubble still pops up so I just put it back on my tool bar. It's there, bubble is there but I have no blocking ability. i just want it gone. It hasn't worked properly since I installed it. when I do a Search it still shows Ghostery on my C drive program files. there are 3 remaining files after i did the uninstall and reboot The main file is called Ghostery IEplugin. within that is ghosterybrowserhelperobject.dll 2.4.2.0, Ghosterymimefilter.dll2.4.2.0 and ghostery updater

Strange.. Sounds like it didn't complete the uninstall.. you can try deleting all the Ghostery files from : C:\Program Files (x86)\GhosteryIEplugin\ see if that removes it.. but if you see it in the programs list in the control panel, it didn't uninstall.

It's not in the list on my control panel but still on my tool bar. It won't let me manually delete from my C drive program files. it says "access denied make sure disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not in use" I have no way of turning it off in the tool bar or getting rid of it.

Amy, our apologies, you would need to start into Safe mode before you will be able to remove the directory Pete is referring to. Sadly, the uninstall process sometimes fails if IE happened to be opened at the same time, and this is most likely what happened in your case.
To fully remove it, at this point you will need to start your computer into Safe Mode and delete the contents of: C:\Program Files (x86)\GhosteryIEplugin\ -
