Ghostery window doesn't expand
I using Ghostery on Safari 5.0.5. On most sites if I click on the Ghostery icon in the toolbar, as I understand it, there is supposed to be a pop-up on the upper left where the setting can be reached. However, on most sites there only appears a thin gray line where the window is supposed to be. It doesn't seem to expand down like it should. (Ukranian options are off in Adblock)

Hi ahkira28,
Could you go to Safari's Preferences, click on the Advanced tab, mark "Show Develop menu in menu bar", and then open a new page and navigate somewhere, like nytimes.com, then open Error Console on that page by clicking "Show Error Console" in Safari's Develop menu, and click Ghostery's toolbar button? What does the console show?
Also, what other Safari extensions/SIMBL plugins do you have installed? -

Hi Alexei,
Switching on the Develop menu somehow by itself seems to have fixed the problem. Now the window is expanding on every tab. Just wanted to see if I then unchecked the Develop menu would the window still expand? It does.
I also had one window with about 4 tabs where Ghostery seemed active (I was seeing the tracking sites pop up) but the Ghostery icon was grayed out on all tabs. Closing and reopening Safari cured that as well.
Looks Ghostery is working OK now. Thanks! -

Update: For some reason the problem returned. But I think I have found the source, Pithhelmet. What can I use as an exception rule to allow the pop up for Ghostery?

Try enabling logging in PithHelmet ( http://www.culater.net/software/PithH... ) in order to figure out what gets blocked when you click on Ghostery's toolbar button.
What does PithHelmet's log file tell you regarding Ghostery? -

PithHelmet 3 for Snow Leopard no longer has a preference pane and seems to have done away with the logging. The PH web site advises instead to use the available blocking elements to create a rule. However, none of the blockable elements listed is related to Ghostery when its window is open.

We had a similar issue with AdBlock blocking Ghostery under certain conditions ( http://code.google.com/p/adblockforch... ), which got resolved with AdBlock whitelisting Ghostery.
Try whitelisting safari-extension://com.betteradvertising.ghostery-*
The best approach would be to whitelist all Safari extensions by default in PithHelmet. Why should PithHelmet ever interfere with something you chose to install yourself? Perhaps you could get in touch with the developer? -

I will follow through with your suggestions. Thanks for your assistance, Alexei.
