After installing the August, 2013, Windows 7 64 bit updates, Firefox 23.0 w/ Ghostery enabled increases CPU usage from about 2% to about 30%. No other add in does this. I assume some bug in Ghostery and/or the Win 7 updates aren't working together very well. Ghostery is v 5.0.1.
Will downgrade Ghostery to 2.9.6 which is suggested as the "latest" version on the Ghostery old version page suggested in Ghostery's support link.

I also have high CPU usage (about 100%) after upgrading to Ghostery v.5.0.1 on Firefox v.23.0 on an Ubuntu12.04 system. Inactivation of Ghostery fix the high load.
I have several other addons like Adblock plus v.2.3.2 (ABP).
If I disable ABP, then Ghostery and Firefox run with normal load.
If I activate ABP AFTER Ghostery is activated, Ghostery and Firefox run with normal load. No restarts on Firefox between tests. -
