Icon showing only in grey?

Heya!

First of all great work on the new version of Ghostery for chrome - now it does block them all!
Funny thing is that the Ghostery icon in the addon bar is showing thee number of blocked bugs only in grey:

In previous version it was green for blocked and red for not blocked.
Is this a bug or did you want it to be like this? If so, then why?

Hi Matrix,

That's supposed to be the same shade of purple as the alert bubble. The green/red thing was pretty confusing; it's better to simplify with one color, especially now that there are almost no caveats to Ghostery's detection/blocking. What do you think?

Maybe its only me but I liked it better when it had 2 colors...
Green - good.
Red - bad.
Actually now that it has only one color it's more confusing - did it block it? or not?

If your blocking is on hold for any reason, such as when you are on a page you told Ghostery to not block anything on, Ghostery's icon will turn gray.

To see which individual trackers were blocked, and which were not, click on Ghostery's button to show the findings popup.

Can you direct me to a test page to see it?
Now that Ghostery is indeed blocking all the problematic sites which in the past it didn't block, I don't know how the icon is supposed to look like...

I see 7 trackers blocked.

If I click Ghostery's button, click "Edit Blocking Options", click "Don't block on nytimes.com" and reload, the icon turns gray, and I see 11 trackers detected.

Also, regarding red/green: We can no longer say "good" or "bad", because Chrome's blocking should always work.

I tried what you suggested and as you said the icon turns grey.
I also tried unticking only one of the trackers found, but that left the icon as if it was still blocking everything on the site (although one tracker is allowed) - is that supposed to be like that?
To be honest, the grey icon doesn't quite stand out like the red counter...
And as for the "should work" - I always say be prepared for the unprepared...
Maybe I am old school but I liked it better with the 2 colors....

Unblocking one of the trackers left the icon as is: Yes, individual tracker blocking preferences don't change the icon; the icon goes gray only when all blocking (on the page) is paused.

Purple/gray doesn't stand out as much as red: True, but this might be a good thing. We might change the badge to a different color again though. You could open an idea thread if you'd like to see it changed.

Before, in many of the cases when Chrome's blocking failed, we could tell it failed, and we'd report that fact to you. Now, it's always supposed to work, period. There is no "red" or "green" state for us anymore. Blocking is now always "as intended".
