Using Firefox 34.0 on a Mac (OS X 10.10) and Ghostery 5.4.1.
The extension won't auto update. It reports...
"Tracker library last updated on August 9 2014 3:54 PM"
I tried removing and re-downloading Ghostery.

Mac Firefox 34 (beta channel) and Ghostery 5.4.1 will not auto-update tracker library.

My guess is you weren't auto updating prior to 5.4.1, and if you manually check for updates, it will say, "Already up-to-date."
Question for the library maintainers: why hasn't the CDN been updated with Friday's changes? It's stalled on Bugs Version 330 [= the version included with 5.4.1].
Question for the code developers: would it be less confusing for end users if bugs_last_updated got cleared when the "disk" version supersedes the "memory" one?

I agree. I assume it has not been updating through previous versions. Manually updating does as you guessed. "Already up-to-date."
I use Ghostery on Chromium and Safari on the same Mac without problems.

Each browser is independent of the others, so what you do in one usually doesn't affect anything else (Adobe Flash Player being the notable exception; its persistent data is stored per-user).
The next time the tracker library is updated (it doesn't matter whether this happens automatically, or you check manually), the "Tracker library last updated on" should advance. The confusion arises because there are two different ways you can receive updates (AMO and the CDN), and the "last updated" date/time only applies to the latter. -

New Tracker library is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday 10/20)
