I am using Ghostery 5.4.1 With Firefox 35.0.1 both on Windows 8.1 and Linux Mint 17.
On Linux everything works fine but on Windows I cannot create the Icon in the toolbar at the end of the walk-through. The dropdown box in Tools of Firefox indicates that Ghostery is installed.
Is it working even when the icon in the navigation bar is missing?
What can I do to get it shown?

Additional information:
The Windows 8.1 machine has three users defined:
one Admin user and two regular ones.
The Ghostery icon in the navigation bar appears with only one of the regular
users but not with the Admin user and the other regular one. Makes no sense.- view 1 more comment

Tried disabling-restart-enabling procedure for all three Windows users. No change Ghostery icon on only one, the same as before, user navigation toolbar.
When customizing Firefox toolbars Ghostery is not an option to move to toolbar, yet it is installed and the little box appears on the lower right of the screen when calling a website indicating that the trackers are being caught. -

I had lost the Ghostery icon on my Linux machine as well, but could restore it by
removing and re-installing Ghostery.
This procedure does not help on the Windows machine.
I synchronize the Firefox options (Preferences) via Firefox Synch over all users
of Windows and Linux. I have a hunch this may be the cause of the problem. -

I found the cause of the problem: the navigation toolbar had too many icons to show. The Ghostery icon was not missing only hidden.
The issue is closed.-
AH! Whats the total number allowed?

The real estate on the navigation bar is costly.
Depending on the length of the Address bar (which the navigation bar has to share with the add on icons) perhaps 15 icons will fit. There is a small indicator at the right end of the bar indicating the overflow of icons, easily overlooked.
I did not see it either. -

I tried removing ALL icons except the pdf converter and WOT. The address bar expands. The Ghostery icon does NOT reappear. There is no pop-down caret.
I was just using it! It vanished.-
can you try disabling ghostery from the extensions menu, restart browser and then enable.. icon should come back.
