No cross outs despite showing "all blocked" by Ghostery

A check on updates led to me to downloading a Ghostery update--last week. Before that said update the bugs and cookies showed a line (cross out) on those listed bugs. After said download update -- there are no lines thru the items, even tho the tray info says, for example: "1 of 1 blocked". Do you have uninstall the old Ghostery before updating? Do I have to allow cookies to download? Or has my Ghostery been infected with spyware? Also, upon that update, my computer also went weird: document writing changed--Tried to sen email to "support@ghostery.com" -- could NOT be delivered--tried twice. Why do I not get cross outs when Ghostery icon info says: " blocked "--on the same web page?
