Odd characters

Since installing, I have noticed that on occasion, I get Chinese characters displaying where my Firefox browser tab labels are, obscuring their description. The only was I can get rid of them is to close and re-open Firefox. Have you heard of this? Is this a known problem that's fixable? Any suggestion would be helpful.
