I am using the latest version of firefox. I have upgraded to the most recent ghostery and yet, I still get the pop up that a new version is available every time I start my browser.
It is very annoying to have to continually close this window. How do I stop it!

OK I have upgraded, now, how about stopping the constant pop up about a new release being available. It's very annoying.

Tell us:
— The full version number of Firefox
— The full version number of Ghostery
— Which version of Ghostery you upgraded from (if you remember)
Try selecting the menu item Tools > Ghostery > Walkthrough; tap the large right arrow until you get to the last page; close the tab.
(If that doesn't work, you may have a corrupted Firefox profile.)

You can also try disabling any other add-on, press "Skip Wizard", restart browser and then enable them again. That should do the trick

I am using firefox version 27.0.1
I am using ghostery 5.1.2
I have cleared the cache done a complete uninstall of ghostery and then reinstall and I still the the continual balloon to upgrade to the most recent ghostery.
I do not know the version of ghostery I upgraded from.
I also did the tools, ghostery, walkthrough until I got to the end, then closed the tab.-
