Problem with Firefox addon installation

Can not download ghostery for firefox. Firefox shows a message: "the addon can not be installed because it appears to be corrupt".

Quit and restart Firefox. Try installing Ghostery from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire...

If that doesn't work, tell us:

Which version of Firefox you're using and what extensions you currently have enabled (name and version) — you can obtain a list by opening about:support

Which operating system are you using. I just downloaded and installed without an issue. Do you have any other add-ons installed?

HI,

Addon from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire... does not work as well.

I am on windows 7, Firefox 12.0, with extensions Adblock Plus, Better Privacy, Foxy Proxy.

  Hi George, usually, this signifies a corrupted download/installation. To fix, you may need to wipe out stage directory for your extensions. To find it, open about:support and click on Profile Directory. In that directory, find folder named "extensions" and navigate into it. If you see anything that says "staged" you need to delete it and then attempt re-installation.

My Ghostery icon suddenly disappeared. Following that, Ghostery disappeared altogether.

I've run my virus program, Malawarebytes, Spybot and have defragged. Everything seems fine on my end.

Now when I try to d/l it again, I get the "corrupt download" error.

What does "download is corrupt" mean? I am unable to d/l Ghostery. ;-(.

  can you update your Firefox and see if the problem persists? or are you staying on 17 for a specific purpose?

I upgraded Firefox and was able to download Ghostery. Cleared cache. Purple box is back, but still no icon.
