Session cookies better than cookie blocking?

As an option to plain blocking of undesireable cookies, would'nt it be a fruitful idea to allow them as session cookies in order to potentially eliminate cookie-related page access restrictions. As for me, I hardly ever block such sites anyway - only truly intrusive ones.

Let me turn this around: why would you want any cookies to persist?

Can you give us an example of an "undesirable" browser cookie (not Flash LSO) that impacts page access?
