Slowdown of Firefoz 3.5 & 4 when using ghostery?

I find that since adding Ghostery my web broswer has slowed consdierably. I use Firefoz 4 at home and 3.5.1 at work. any ideas? The ability to switch off ghostery could be an option?

  • I hope that's a typo, and you actually meant 3.5.19. If your computer has an older, slower processor (say, something manufactured more than about seven years ago), or not very much RAM, Ghostery might not fare too well. Also, certain web pages (particularly ones that embed Google Maps) can be unusually demanding. One thing you might try is going into Ghostery's Options, scrolling down to the Performance Options section, and unchecking Scan for dynamically inserted page elements.

If you're still having problems, let us know what other Firefox extensions you're using (there are a few that can cause conflicts).
