Some suggestions for the toolbar button in Firefox

Some suggestions for the toolbar button:

1. make the tracker counter on the toolbar button optional.
In any case it should not be to the left of the button - this way, when it shows some number, it seems like it's becoming one with it's adjacent button
You should have the counter either on the upper right corner (like webmail's notifier )
or to the lower right corner (as you have ghostery for chrome ),
or even better, make it's location user-selectable.

2. When hovering the mouse on the button, no click should be required (just like noscript works)
Instead of showing the plain "x trackers found on this page, x trackers blocked" ,
it should show the menu that currently appears when you right click on the button,
(basically in order to immediately see which trackers have been blocked)

3. you should definitely add to the toolbar icon menu (and the statusbar icon menu)
a shortcut to the Block Log.
Especially now with Firefox 4, having block log only inside the Menu bar|Tools, renders it hidden and therefore useless.

    Hi Kostas, thanks for using Ghostery and suggesting the changes. We always mull over various changes in Ui and under the hood workings, so we'll let you know if we adopt the items you list.

    As far as #1 -- look and feel for the top status bar isn't streamlined like Chrome for number badges (there is no API). Because of that, what you see is a pretty much a CSS hack to force Firefox to have similar looking functionality where its not intended, once again, styling it is a PITA, so what you see if what you get at this point.

    #2 -- good idea, we'll look this over.

    #3 -- Block Log was intended as a last resort type of thing, and as such, is tucked away until its needed in the menus of Firefox. Its been rarely used, and when we call on it is for debugging purposes on the client. I'll bring it up but its most likely not going to be implemented at all: Firefox UI will eventually be replaced with similar look-n-feel as Chrome/Safari, and all extras will remain in the Firefox Tools -> Ghostery menus only.

    im mostly bothered by #1, its just visually terrible in my browser bar.

    maybe a solution would be to give the option to not display the number, and possibly for indication change the color of the ghost, green all blocked and red for partially blocked, of course keeping the current blue for no trackers and grey for disabled. changing colors could of course be a seperate option.
