how is different the tracking by ip listed in level1,2,3,etc. of bluetrack.co.uk, usually used by peer controller like peerblock or iplist?
I mean: Ghostery works inside browser and is not stand-alone but I think there are some difference and some important likeness: may anyone explain give me some information about the issue, please?
I thank u in advance, Paolo

1Hi Paulo, thanks for using Ghostery.
There are different ways of tracking a person with different purposes in mind. Ghostery works in the browser and protects you from leaking your personal information relating to the browser this information is used to create a profile on your online behavior: what you like and dislike, what sites you visit most often, your search results, and a lot of other info that you inadvertently leak while navigating the web. The purpose of such tracking is to create a profile on you for advertising purposes.
IP tracking is a different beast: by itself, your IP only tells a limited data set to whoever is gathering it like where you are. It could also be used to confirm that you are the same user when jumping between sites.
Ghostery does not necessarily stop IP tracking: just by virtue of you visiting a website, you surrender this information to the operators of it. Third parties that might collect it via javascript are prevented from doing so tho.
I hope this answers your question, let me know if you would like me to clarify anything. -
