The old hippie needs help with ghostery/yahoo toolbar possible conflict
Remember I am as old as your mother or grandmother! I just installed Yahoo messenger to chat with a few friends, not as a social networking thing. I seem to recall in the TOS yahoo said they installed the toolbar along with messenger. The question is if I can figure out how(?) to disable the yahoo toolbar, will it disable my messenger, too? My browser is the latest firefox, and i have Win 7 Professional(and wont upgrade to win 8 because MS seems to have 1 good one followed by one bad one, eg XP, then the demonic Vista). What do y'all suggest?

Hi gnewgebergwon,
You can find instructions for uninstalling a Firefox extension on the following page: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstallin...
Yahoo Messenger should work fine w/o the toolbar.
Let us know if we can help with anything. -

the old hippie thanks alexei. I couldnt figure out how to use the mozilla answer, but i got enough clues to go to win 7 start , control panel then click and uninstall. NOW if the gray box that tells me i still have the yahoo toolbar would go away...

Could you see if Yahoo Toolbar is still listed as one of your Firefox add-ons?
From the Mozilla article:
Click Tools -> Add-ons
Click on the Extensions button on the top.
Click on the extension you want to uninstall (Yahoo Toolbar).
Click Uninstall.
Restart your Mozilla application. -
