Unable to see slide shows, videos on various sites
I am still unable to see click-through videos and some slide shows - such as those on Yahoo's various news sites, even when I white list a site or remove all of the blocks ... for instance: http://news.yahoo.com/video/kitten-ta...

1Hi Issis...
I see what you are saying, however I am able to get all functionality if I whitelist the URL you provided. Which version of firefox are you running? and assuming Ghostery 2.7.2? -

I just downloaded Firefox, so it should be the latest (ver. 13?). I'm using Windows 7 x86. I just downloaded Ghostery so assume it is also the latest version.
Here's another example ... still can't see video even when I white list, try and allow all trackers, etc. :http://www.care2.com/causes/michael-v... -

Another example ... this is suppose to be a video, but only shows a still. I've "allowed all" on the page, white listed it, etc. and still can't see a video.

Also, I've noticed on many of my pages some of the boxes with images, text, etc. ... usually at the bottom of the page, are cut off so I can't read the 2nd line of text.- view 2 more comments

That's a special URL you'd go to. Submit "about:support" (without the quotes) into your Firefox's address bar.

Sorry, I keep forgetting how much Mozilla's been dumbing things down in recent releases... (browser.urlbar.trimURLs promotes ignorance!!!)

Here's an example of cut off text (see "more videos" near bottom of page):

Here's what happens when I click on the video "FBI worker sues ..." (note white square where video should be)

Sounds like a missing or bad Flash Player.
Windows is the most complicated and confusing of all the supported platforms, because you'll have up to three different Flash Player installations — and you'll need to keep each of them up to date.
- Flash Player for Internet Explorer (=ActiveX)
- Flash Player for Other Browsers (=NPAPI) [Firefox, Opera, Safari]
- Flash Player included with Google Chrome (=PPAPI)
The most reliable course of action is to completely uninstall the first two, and then reinstall them.
Get the uninstaller here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/k...
You will need to Quit all browsers before running the uninstaller.
Then, use Firefox to go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and install Flash Player for Other Browsers.
If you must use Internet Explorer (which is usually a really stupid idea, except for visiting certain Microsoft sites that feature "tight integration with IE"), use it to go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ to install Flash Player for Internet Explorer.
The third one is taken care of as long as you have the most recent version of Google Chrome. See http://omahaproxy.appspot.com/ for current_version information. You have to look there or at http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.... to know whether you're keeping on top of things. "Recent" refers to date, not version number. Because of their screwy rapid release system, there can be up to four different "current" versions available for any given platform.
Good thing Flash is on the way out (thank you, Steve Jobs!). It's such a PITA.

Thank you for the detailed response. I uninstalled, then reinstalled Adobe Flash Player in Firefox as well as IE and, as you noted, it is already a part of Chrome. I've tried several videos, etc. and while Flash works with IE and Chrome, it is still not working/recognized in Firefox. For instance: http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPla...
When I tried to play NPR's news stream I got a box which said that I needed to download Adobe Flash ver 8 or later. In IE and Chrome I get the normal NPR list of streaming audio which I can select and play.
BTW - I white listed the site, paused blocking, etc. and still could not get the audio to play ...
In returning to an earlier site I sent you, I get the following error message when I try to listen to any f the audio selections: "To view this content, Javascript must be enabled and Adobe Flash Player must be installed." I have white listed the site, paused blocking ... so not sure what else I can do to get it to recognize AFP /JS. Here's the site:
