Undetected cookies on Yahoo.com
Why don't I see tracking cookies on Yahoo.com? Note, this question is coming from a former Yahoo employee and I know there is a code there, but your algorithm does not pick it up. Why?

Hi Peter,
Ghostery tracks trackers: third-party page elements, all capable of tracking you across multiple domains.
yahoo.com doesn't have any third-party trackers on it. -

1Yahoo's own cookies would be first-party, and presumably necessary for proper site operation. As for third-party elements, those aren't invoked until much later (so they don't appear in the alert bubble); I do see evidence of DoubleClick and VoiceFive in the Block Log, however.

Oops, Eric is right. Ghostery for Firefox has issues with reporting. The Block Log (found in Firefox's Tools menu under Ghostery) reveals the full picture, however.

Hi Peter, thanks for posting this issue.
Its a well known, long running reporting issue that Ghostery has. There are several cases that Ghostery will block, but not necessarily report like when a pixel is dropped on a page, but never injected into the DOM. In any case, next release fixes this for reporting as well since there is now a port between blocker and scanner. -
