Video Blocker Help
You block most embedded videos. Let us click the video and then Ghostery tell us what is blocking it. Clicking the "more info" links is an annoying time waster. Thanks.

Hi Hugo,
Thanks for using Ghostery and for the feedback..
We have a click2play feature in the firefox browser. Could you provide an example so we can take a look?
Thanks again for the feedback. -

Hi Hugo,
Looks like its the DoubleClick tracker that is causing the issue.
You can whitelist bloomberg.com if you always want the videos to work on that site.
We are working on site selective whitelisting which would allow you to always allow DoubleClick on that site while still blocking others.
Here is a good blog post from our Product Manager about things like this.

Pete, thanks for the response. I read the product manager's post. Right now, clicking the more info link to figure out the blocker is too time consuming particularly when Ghostery is blocking more than a dozen things on a page.
Here is a suggestion for the product manager:
Add an enable/disable play button that will display/block videos with ads
Thanks.-
Thanks for the feedback!

Will this be a new feature for 2013? Had another frustrating video response today at http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/01...
This page triggers forty (40!) marketers. The odds of correctly guessing which tracker to unblock are not in any user's favor.
Once again, when we click a video and it doesn't play please show us the blue Ghostery ghost and allow us to click it to unblock the video and whoever is advertising/tracking in it. I can't be the only user in the world who has this problem.
Thank you.-
Hi Hugo,
Video worked just fine for me with full blocking. What other extensions are you running? -
-
I had to unblock CrazyEgg to play the video (in Opera).
Hugo, this isn't a case of Ghostery blocking the video player itself. It's a case of something that the video player depends on (maybe even just on that site) getting blocked, and the video player never loading because of that.
We might be able to provide a CrazyEgg surrogate to fix this issue for everybody, however. -

Pete, I'm not running anything anything else. My point is that it happens all over the web. Ghostery blocks videos if ads are played in them. My question is: in 2013 will you develop at button that we can click to unblock and play the specific video that isn't playing? You do this with page redirects. Im' not the only person on the web with this problem. Thanks.

Could you please provide some other examples of videos that break because of Ghostery's blocking? Unfortunately, this is very much a case-by-case problem.

If you don't deploy the CrazyEgg soon I'm uninstalling Ghostery. It's impossible to watch videos without pause blocking. WTF is taking so long?
-
-
Hugo, the site above doens't seem to host the video anymore (http://consequenceofsound.net/2013/01...)
Do you have some other examples for me? Also, please specify the browser you are using Ghostery on. Thanks. -

"Replace certain blocked content with an option to allow it. (This helps with certain video players, comment forms, etc.)"
This is very handy, and I hope in time it will extend to all video/radio streaming players, etc.
In the meantime, I have an example of a website that has multiple (19) elements blocked, but no indication which one is preventing the video player from operating.

If you prefer not to unblock everything on a particular page, is the only way to narrow down and identify the blocker in theses circumstances by trial and error?
If so, is there some sort of list that categorizes specific trackers that are most commonly associated with and effect certain functions, i.e. video/online radio play?
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Rule of thumb for crertain trackers?.-
Hi nolan, thanks for posting.
In this case, its FreeWheel thats preventing display of the video. We're still working on our click-2-play and we will improve. Thanks. -
