Welcome to 5.4.2? I don't want this and I never told Ghostery to update its engine
I am upset. I opened my browser today and got a tab welcoming me to Ghostery 5.4.2. At no point did I allow Ghostery to update its underlying engine. I do not see an option to turn this unwanted behavior off. If I can't stop updating the engine (but continue downloading updated list of trackers to block), then I will remove Ghostery and find some other tracker-blocker. I feel betrayed and violated.

Thanks for reaching out to Ghostery!
The update is controlled by your browser. We just put new versions out there. You can turn it off in Firefox from the extensions menu > Gears icon > Uncheck "Automatically check for updates". You'll be all set. If you want to revert, here is the versions link to roll back. 5.4.1 had a nasty bug of wiping out settings...
