Where does Ghostery fall in the stack with a hosts file and Adblocker also installed?
This is an awesome little extension. I am wondering how it works with a fully loaded up hosts file, & Adblocker installed on Safari / OSX. This is the configuration I'm running now. Obviously, I'm always behind the curve with editing my hosts file, and there's surely a lot of stuff Ghostery is tracking (as evidenced by the icon).

Hi font9a,
If your browser wants to make a request to a fetch a tracking pixel or a script that matches a blocked bug pattern in your Ghostery database, Ghostery will abort that request. No pixel/script will be transferred. The ad server that hosts this resource does not get contacted at all.
Your hosts file overrides kick in once a request has been initiated. Which means Ghostery detection and blocking happens first.
An ad blocking extension likely focuses on blocking visible ads, while Ghostery focuses on detecting and optionally blocking tracking elements. These extensions should thus complement each other. -

Thanks for the great information. I'm just thrilled that ghostery exists and it's so simple (and informative) to use.
