Whitelist Domain toggle and hovering explanation.

The more I use Ghostery the more I like it. However, I'd like a short explanation of Whitelist Domain from the Ghostery icon in Firefox (by hovering over the name?), and I'd like the option to turn Whitelist Domain on or off. A checkmark next to the menu item would be perfect.

  • Hi cfs2052,

"Whitelist" and "domain" are two technical terms, which is less than ideal for Ghostery's purposes.

The findings menu in Ghostery for Firefox will eventually be replaced by the "findings popup" interface in use by Ghostery for Opera, Chrome and Safari.

The findings popup avoids either "whitelist" or "domain" by phrasing this option as "Stop Blocking on nytimes.com", where "nytimes.com" comes from the page you are currently on.

So, clicking "Whitelist Domain" disables Ghostery's blocking (and cookie protection) for the site you are on. Click it again to re-enable.

You can manage the full list of exempt pages by clicking on the "Site whitelist" tab under Blocking Options on Ghostery's options page.
