Why doesn't Ghostery scan Facebook?
Why doesn't Ghostery scan Facebook? Is it a legal reason or a technical one? Regardless, is this functionality that's being worked on or is scanning Facebook not going to happen?

Thanks for the great follow-up Adam. Sorry I didn't find the blog post before asking my question. It all seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Hey Alex, thanks for using Ghostery.
Just to add to Adams comment from technical side: Ghostery does scan Facebook, its just that they do not use 3rd parties often (they do on occasion, especially Microsoft services). But when they do, Ghostery will make sure that you are aware of them. -

Hmm.. So what about html calls to pages like http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbm within page code on a Microsoft site? I am not on a Facebook site.

Hi Jim, thanks for using Ghostery.
Ghostery will not prevent regular links to web pages, additionally, for Facebook, Ghostery looks for the social widgets (Like, Comments, etc), and Facebook Connect, and when found will let the user know about them. -

Thanks. And thanks for a great tool!

Here is a new, major tracking mechanism, IMHO. Will Ghostery act against Facebook's Open Graph, the super-tracking and super-dossier-building monster that Facebook rolled out last year? I encountered http://ogp.me, tonight. Domain Tools ident'd that as one of 399 websites owned/operated by Facebook, Inc., and WOT ident'd it as Open Graph.

Open Graph is a specification for creating a set of machine-readable data by websites so that entities like Facebook could automatically process that data. I am not sure there is much for Ghostery to do here.

Oh, should have put this here.
Some FB Evil to add to your collections:
Facebook Exchange (FBX)
Facebook Beacon
Facebook Concersion Tracking
FACETz
Facebook Connect
Facebook Social Graph
Facebook Social Plughins -
-
Privacy Badger (EFF) finds 13 trackers on the FB page and Ghostery nothing.
-
We don't work with Facebook. Facebook tracking depends on browsing within their domain.

First-Party Tracking vs. Third-Party Tracking

If you click refresh does it scan? This is a 3rd party support forum. We don't control the trackers here. We have asked that they remove them, but they will not. When using the same set-up as you I get 2 trackers on my Facebook page.. Can you try creating a new Firefox profile to see if the problem persists there? DON'T DELETE your current profile so you can go back to it.. This is just to see if the profile has become corrupt.. which does happen.
