I’m confused & frustrated

No primary key field? huh??

access mobile database client won't let me edit files. says "record cannot be edited because it is view or has no primary key fields defined. a table must contain at least one primary key to be editable". what does that mean and can it be fixed?

  • Hi Amy,

All MS Access tables must have a primary key in order to be able to edit records. Primary keys are added by using a desktop/notebook client of MS Access. From there you just add the primary keys in the tables by opening each table in design mode, selecting the unique field and then clicking the little key in the toolbar.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Mickel
