Opening MS Access Databases that Sync from the Cloud?

I use SugarSync to backup my office files. The most important file is my client database that I need to access on the go from my iPhone. It is a MS Access database which this app opens beautifully. However, it only opens if I pull it over through the add file option under Apps in iTunes. The file is on my phone in the SugarSync App where it is in sync in realtime without going through iTunes. Is there anyway to make these two apps work together? This app just can't locate the database that SugarSync is pulling onto my iPhone 3GS.

  • And I should add the SugarSync isn't able to open MS Access databases - obviously.

We did a quick test and it found that if we go to their web site on the iPhone and log in, then we can tap on any database file that is in their file system and open it in DataGlass Access. It seems like their iPhone app should also be able to do that using their "Open in External App" action that comes up when you select "View File" for the file, but it doesn't appear to work. It may be a big in the SugarSync app that you might want to report to them.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll be leaving a glowing review over at iTunes. You are completely right. The SugarSync app is buggy. The database file opens fine if I use Safari to take the long way in. If I use the SugarSync App, it doesn't offer me Access as an option for opening the file either through the iPhone icon or the cloud copy of my various computers. I decided to give DropBox a try. Their app works really well. The option for opening in an external app brings up the DataGlass Access option perfectly. So, DropBox is a possible fix. And, making a shortcut to the SugarSync website is also a fix. I'll follow up with SugarSync App tech support. They haven't gotten back to me yet! Thanks again for building and supporting a great product.
