That's odd. Can you try opening the database in MS Access on your Windows machine and saving it out as an older version of Access (with the .mdb extension) and transferring that over to see if it works?

  • Same here. My database is a .mdb format' which was downloaded from email. When I select tue downloaded database it says "open in access" and transfers to the program with no database. What's going on?

So DataGlass launches, but it doesn't open the database itself? That's odd. What happens if you transfer it directly over to the iPhone using the iTunes "File Sharing" section at the bottom of the "Apps" tab for your device? That should determine if there is a problem with the database itself or with the transfer from e-mail.
    • I have tested opening the database from e-mail. With an Access 2000 database that worked fine. Do realize that some or most internet providers have protection enabled for sending/receiving database files. In fact MS Outlook does not offer opening/saving MS Access database attachments as a standard. A lot of people therefore ZIP/RAR their databases and then send them over e-mail. Obviously this is not going to open in DataGlass Access.

These are all assumptions that I am making. I will test an MS Office 2010 database later this weekend.

  • I’m mildly annoyed but understanding and willing to help
I just bought the app today and am having the same problem. The database is an Access 2010 db (.accdb). Access 2010 does not have an option to save the file as anything other than a .accdb file as far as I can tell (If someone knows how to do that I'm not attached to the 2010 version for any particular reason). I have tried opening the file through both email and a sync through itunes with the same results. I have also tried exiting the app before sync and restating the iPad. I am currently using an 1st gen iPad with iOS 4.3.5 (8L1) and using iTunes 10.40.0.80. I have included a screenshot of the error message I am receiving and would be happy to provide a copy of the problematic Access file if that would help (2.1MB).

    Thanks!

    • I have purchased app today on ipad2,latest iTunes and have same problem. If a basic prob like this exists, the release is premature especially we have to pay for it

If you are able to share your database with us, please mail it to support@impathic.com and we will try to determine what the problem might be.

Mickel is correct that this may be due to the database having once been encrypted and then re-decrypted. That problem will be fixed in the next version of DataGlass (although we still will not be able to open encrypted databases).

If that doesn't describe your situation, and if you are able to share your database with us, please do mail it to support@impathic.com and we will take a look.

I have a problem with the App. Having just purchased the app I emailed myself my access database. When it loaded I selected open on Access. the DataGlass screen opened but no database appeared. tried a variety of smaller databases in differing formats non of which appeared???

That's odd. Can you try rebooting your device and seeing if that helps? Also, if you transfer the database from your desktop to your iPad via the "File Sharing" section at the bottom of the "Apps" tab of your device as seen when connected in iTunes, does that also not work?

And are you able to see and open the built-in "Sample Database"?
