Why can't I connect to Oracle???

Hi,
I am having an issue connecting to any database.
I am receiving This error:

"Error Connecting to database
io exception: The network adapter could not establish the connection.

I would like to get this solved, as I have yet to use this app.

    First make sure (by consulting with your DBA if necessary) that the database host, SID, username, and password are all correct, and that the database is configured to allow external connections. Second, if you are using a host name, you may need to use the host's IP address instead, since it may be that your iOS device is not able to resolve the host name. Other potential issues include the iPhone/iPad not actually being on the same network as the database (this happens more often than you might think).

    If none of these help, please let us know and we'll continue to try to figure out the problem. Any additional information you can provide would be useful (such as the values for the database host and SID you are providing, the version of the Oracle database you are using, and the names of any other applications you tend to use to access the database from your computer).

    We had a dns issue on the host I was testing. Once this was fixed, I was able to connect via VPN
    I still have an issue with another network host, but I now suspect it is a configuration issue as well.

    I've tried several times to use this application and have not been able to connect to our DB...

    I am connecting using a VPN connection and have verified that I'm able to reach inside applications...so I know that I'm getting through the firewall...

    I've configured the host with the IP address, I've also tried the SID with the name, name + domain name, and SID with an IP address...

    I have another person accessing another one of our DB and it is working fine...but I'm not able to access another one of the companies DB...

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled...

    I removed the discovery address...

    not sure what else to try...

    when I attempt to connect it states connecting...with the timer, then eventually exists the application...

    thoughts? would love to use the app :)

    First, when you say that someone else is able to access another of your DBs, are you also able to access that DB? That might help identify whether the problem is specific to the other DB that you are trying to access, or whether it is something else. Also, if would be useful it you could test the connect while inside the network, rather than tunneling through the VPN, since the VPN might introduce an additional layer of complexity for determining the problem.

    Finally, when you say that after it starts connecting and then it "then eventually exists the application", do you mean that the whole application crashes, or do you get some error message that provides more information?

    I've also tried it on our network with no success...

    I'll try the other DB...I'm not a user on that system so will have to have them log in for me :)

    no message appears before it exits (sorry misspelled previously)...just closes the app and returns to the icons...

    I'll let you know how that works with the other DB...
