Hi Syn,

That's a great question! You can sync and share a single Goodbudget Household by both logging in with same username and password.

When you do this, you both will be able to add transactions, edit the budget, etc. and that data will automatically sync over to the other device/web.

Hope this helps!

We have the free good budget app and we are trying to sign in with two devices but it won't let us. It keeps saying that we have exceeded the number of devices allowed. However, the account only shows two devices! Help

Hi Joanna,

If you are on the Free plan of Goodbudget, the maximum number of mobile devices you can have connected at one time is 2. If you would like to remove an old unused device from your Goodbudget household to make room for another one, go to My Household > Manage Devices (https://goodbudget.com/household/devices) and click "Revoke access" on the device(s) you wish to remove.

Sometimes you can run into the device limit even without using a new device if you've recently updated your mobile device's operating system; occasionally this causes Goodbudget to recognize it as a new device. In this case you'll have to delete the old version of your device from your household.

In some cases it's hard to tell which device is which in the Manage Devices screen, particularly if you've had several devices on the same operating system. In that case, feel free to revoke all the devices listed and log back into Goodbudget on the devices you wish to use going forward. Revoking devices is not a permanent action, and devices can access households that they've been revoked from in the past, so you don't need to worry about revoking the wrong device!

Cheers.

I also encountered this issue recently after getting a new phone. I think the interface would be clearer if "Revoke Access" were something like "Log out from device" and if there was a button to "Log out of all devices".

Hi Benjamin,

The reason for the language used is that simply logging out of Goodbudget on a phone does not disconnect that phone from your household. In other words, a phone that is logged out of the Goodbudget app still counts toward your device limit if you haven't specifically gone to the Manage Devices page to revoke its access. This is the reason that the Manage Devices page uses the word "revoke" -- while it's true that revoking a device logs that device out of the app, it's doing more than just logging it out.

Hope that makes sense.
