Can't enter amount to fill from unallocated

Some background information.  I set up all my envelopes and amounts.  I have imported the past months transactions and placed into their respective envelopes to get an idea of how much I was spending in each category.  I had negative (red) balances as a result, which makes sense because I performed no fill.  Now I want to start the process of budgeting and fill for my monthly budget. The problem is I have these negative balances from the previous month and I want to bring them to zero for that month so I can refill them for the current month.  I do NOT want to delete all the transactions I took the time to import and categorize to bring the envelopes to zero. I have tried to do a fill at the beginning of last month from unallocated in a cash account, but it won't let me enter an amount ( I was thinking I could bring the envelopes balances to zero by doing a fill of the exact total amount spent for last month, then do a new fill from unallocated cash for the current month)  In short, I'm stuck and don't know how to proceed.

It’s not the most obvious (at least to me) because the area I would think to enter the amount is actually a calculated field. I’ll walk through the iPhone app, but let me know if I can help with web-based. Click on the More tab at the bottom, then Fill from Unallocated. For each envelope you want to fill, click on it. Then, after you click on either “set to amount” or “add specific amount” a new field will appear for the amount. In your case, it’ll probably be easiest to set each one to 0.

Hi tnmkch,

Sorry for the confusion! To clarify, when you Fill from Unallocated, rather than choose a specific amount for the total Fill, you'll simply choose allocation amounts for your different Envelopes and the total amount will be moved from your Unallocated when you save the Fill.

As for what you should do to get your Envelopes to balance 0, what featherstories says above is the best route -- you should record an Envelope Fill from Unallocated that Sets all of your Envelopes to a balance of 0. They've given the iPhone instructions above, and the process is similar on the Android app. On the website app, what you'll do is start a new Fill from Unallocated, then click the Set button for each of your Envelopes and make sure the Fill amount is 0.00. This should get all of your Envelopes to a balance of 0 by moving the requisite funds from your Unallocated.

Hope that helps!
