Create an API so that others can create cool APPs for you.

You could create some simple API (library would be great also) to access the eeba on web. API could include:
- listing envelopes
- listing accounts (some payed plans)
- recording a transaction: amount, envelope, datetime, note, account

People could create than apps that can convert their emails/sms from banks to transactions according some filters/templates.
Or image recognition app, that would create transaction according to the bill.
Barcode scanner app that could create transaction according barcode.
etc etc ... whatever :-).

Hi Pavol,

Thanks for the suggestion and for your enthusiasm in improving EEBA. At the moment we don't have an open API for users to interact with, though I've added your suggestion to our requested features tracker. Let us know if you have any other ideas or suggestions!

It might not need to be an API on web. In android, you can provide Intent's that other applications could execute or an ContentProvider other applications could access. As I think you have most of the code there, this could be a piece of cake ;-).

Hi Pavol,

I appreciate the enthusiasm, and for the reference links. If we do decide to create an open API or something similar, I'll update this thread to let you know. Thanks!

Any progress yet on this API idea? You don't have an app for the Windows Phone (I know small market share) so an API would be a great start and it would appeal to ALL any mobile platform.

Hi cnewman777,

Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately, we currently don’t have anything to announce regarding an open API for users to interact with. I can see why it would be useful for those who aren’t using Androids or iPhones.

I’ve added your voice to our features tracker.

Another vote for an API.

Here's an example use case for me:

I want to take an random amount of money, and distribute it to my envelopes according to their relative percentages. Right now I have a spreadsheet that calculates the amounts, and I have to key them in manually.

If there were some sort of REST API available, I could write a simple script to handle that for me...

+1 from me too, Becky. I also have a spreadsheet solution whereby I am having to input figures from EEBA on to it - it would be great to be able to tap into my EEBA data. Thanks! :)

+1 for this, it would be really usefull to have this so for example, transactions could be added by email or you could have your photo receipts in.. lets say evernote and link them to transactions.

Thanks for all the good work you've been doing with this app, just love it!!

Another vote for the api! It would be cool to let developers create other widgets or reporting features

I'll add my vote for this as well. As a developer I would love to get some access, even if it was read only.

Hi Fil and jay12701,

I've logged your requests as well! Be sure to click the +1 at the top of the page if you haven't already so that we can keep track of how many users are requesting this feature.

+1 for an api. Meanwhile you can export the CSV via this python script (which handles logging in and cookie handling)

https://gist.github.com/philippkeller...

don't hammer the csv too much since it does a full export of all transactions
