CSV import not showing previously imported transactions

I am new to GB and imported part of a CSV of bank transactions, but the +/- was the wrong way round.  I fixed the imported entries manually and amended the CSV so the +/- was the right way round but now I can see all the items on the CSV but none of my previously imported transactions, only the manually created items that were not imports.  I would have expected they would show as either matched or previously imported but not non-existent.  How do I make these previous imports show in the list?

Hi Alex,

When you import a CSV file, Goodbudget gives each transactions a unique number so it can keep track of transactions you've already imported. Then, when you upload a new file, Goodbudget compares the transactions in the file with the transactions you've already imported and then hides the matches from both columns, so you don't create duplicates.

Hope that helps!

Hi Greg,

Thanks for posting and sorry for the troubles! When you import, the QFX/OFX file you download from your bank assigns each transaction a unique number called a “FITID.” Goodbudget uses the FITID to identify the transaction so it knows not to import the same transaction more then once. That FITID should never change from file to file. If it does, Goodbudget won't be able to tell when a transaction has been previously imported and will make it available for you to import again. That might be what's happening for you.

I'll also add that using different file types for the same account import can cause this kind of issue. So be sure to always use the same file type each time (either OFX, QFX or CSV).

If that doesn't help, I can try to tell you if it's a FITID issue that you're experiencing. To do that, I'll need to look at two files that you've used to import previously that cover slightly different date ranges, but with some overlap. And you can send that to support@goodbudget.com

Thanks again!
