Download issue with Ally Bank QFX

I have been downloading .qfx files from Ally Bank for over a year now with no issues. Now, as of last week, the files are giving me an error message. "We could not understand that file..." Has anyone else had the same issue recently?

Sorry for the troubles importing your file! I also saw your email, and responded to you there as well.

We've heard some other recent reports that Ally has changed the way they've formatted their .QFX files, and this new format is preventing Goodbudget from interpreting the data within. It seems that Ally is aware of this issue and is looking into fixing it, so hopefully that change can be made soon.

In the meantime, does Ally offer transaction file downloads in any other file types? Goodbudget also supports .OFX and .CSV imports. If these other options are available, make sure to select a date range that doesn't overlap with your existing transactions so that you don't accidentally double-import your transactions -- switching file types will prevent Goodbudget from being able to match imported transactions with existing ones.

Sorry that we don't have a solution, but hopefully Ally will adjust their files back to the old format. Let us know if you have any further questions!
