export status of envelopes

With eebacanhelp.com, I could copy the state of the envelopes from the screen and paste it into excel.  I did this at the end of each month so that I could annotate the status with notes and action I wanted to take.

Now with Goodbudget, I can't do that. :-(

I want to export a spreadsheet with a column for each of: envelope name, budget amount, and current amount. It would be nice if I could specify a date in the past for the report as well.

Hi Chad,

I think your best option now would be the "Spending by Month" report. That will give you your envelopes and their balances at the end of each month. It should be easy to copy-paste into your spreadsheet I think?

Steven,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I looked and it appears to me that the "Spending by Month" does not give envelope balances at the end of each month, but it gives that amount you spent in each month.

I want to be able to get the envelope balances on a particular date, in tabular format.  Currently this is available as a graph only in your "Envelope Balances" report, and shows the balances over time.  Almost there...

I'm sorry, you're right. I've added your comments to a feature request for a data table for the Envelope balances report. Sorry for misunderstanding earlier!

Hi Chad,

Thanks for asking. I've just marked this idea as 'Not planned' since we're not working on building a report like this at this time. We'll update the thread if that changes. You can also take a look at our Roadmap to stay updated on what we're working on.

Thanks again

This is bizarre that this feature request was made 5 years ago and it still hasn't happened. Surely a basic SQL string should be able to sort this out for you guys?

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for bringing up this request again. I can definitely see how it would be confusing that such a longstanding feature request still hasn't been implemented, so let me try and shed a little light on our process.

First, the date of a feature request is only one of the many factors we take into account when considering changes to make. While we consider every request that's made, we're a small team with limited resources, so we try to focus our efforts on the changes that will have the greatest impact for the most people, and this request hasn't yet hit the top of our list.

Because of this, we don't currently have plans to develop this feature. That doesn't mean it will never be added to Goodbudget, but we're currently focusing on other development priorities, like bringing our new Debt features to the iOS app. I hope this makes sense.

If you're ever curious what we're working on or what's in the pipeline, check out our Roadmap here.
