Goodbudget web doesn't stay signed in on Mac

Even if I check the "Stay signed in for 2 weeks" box, every time I come back to Goodbudget on the web via Safari on my Mac, I have to log back in; both username and password.  Anyone know how to resolve that?  THANKS

Hi Wayne - I've tested this using Safari on my MacBook Pro, and I was able to exit Safari (even sign out of my user on the Mac) and still be logged into Goodbudget. Can you try clearing your cache, and then Login with the "Stay signed in for 2 weeks" option applied? Hope this helps!

Hmm.  I tried clear cache in Safari and Firefox, then logging in with checking the box.  After closing the browser window and going back to Goodbudget, same thing - I have to log in again.

Hi Wayne,

It sounds like this might be a browser setting issue.

If you do allow cookies on Safari, you should be able to store the cookies needed for Goodbudget to remember your login information. Can you check that you have cookies enabled? You can check by going to Safari > Preferences > Privacy.

For Firefox, you might have a certain Privacy setting where you opt to never store history or cookies from sites. That would mean that you would always have to login with a username and password, because Firefox won't store it for you. You can change your Privacy setting by going to Options > Privacy.

Does this help?

Karisa,

Thanks so much for trying to help me figure this out.  Safari has Cookies set to "Always Allow", in fact I can see the list of websites that have data stored and Goodbudget.com is listed and shows data for Cache, Cookies, Local Storage

Hi Wayne,

That makes sense because I believe Goodbudget requires you to have cookies enabled in order to use it.

Could you try clearing out the Cache, Cookies, and Local Storage that's listed under Goodbudget.com in your settings one more time? Then, try logging in again with the 'stay signed in' option applied.

Thanks so much for your patience! I think we're figuring this out together!

Hi Wayne,

Sorry that still didn't work. We're going to talk to one of our developers to see if we can figure out why that's happening.

I'll let you know if we figure something out. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks so much.  I'm sure it's something simple once we see it! and then I'll feel dumb!  But, I appreciate your patience.

Hi Wayne,

I talked to one of our developers and he mentioned that browsing in Private mode would mean that cookies are not able to be stored, and therefore you wouldn't be able to 'stay logged in'. Are you, by change, in Private mode when you browse?

Thanks!

Hi Wayne,

Hmmm, we're stumped! It sounds like the cookie that Goodbudget needs isn’t there when you come back to the site. But we're not sure why because we haven't been able to reproduce what you're experiencing.

For now, you can try using a different browser when using Goodbudget to see if a different one allows you to stay logged in. I know that’s not ideal, but I do hope it helps for now.

I apologize for the troubles! I'll be happy to let you know if we learn more.
