I want to see the Spending by Month report with numbers, not a graph.

If I want to review one month's expenses, by envelope, I have to view this ugly graph and hover over vertical dots to get the numbers.

There is a reporting function that I need, and if it is not in the next rollout, I have to go to a different accounting service.

I want to compare spending in envelopes over a multi-month period, but with numbers, and not a graph. All envelopes at once, or some at a time, either is fine.

I know I can export all of my transactions into a spreadsheet and manually create this report myself, but if I wanted to do that, I wouldn't be using a third party service.

Please upgrade the reporting functions soon. It is really hampering my ability to manage my finances.

Hi Caelan,

Thanks for the feedback. Adding Envelope filters to the reports is on our list, which would let you see your multi-month spending for a particular Envelope, but it sounds like you'd also want a table for the data instead of the graph, is that right?

Something like the table in the "Spending by Envelope" graph, but with columns for each month, is that right?

Yes, so that I can see the numerical values of each entry, instead of just the position on the graph. The graph is really useless for me; sometimes I want to see how my spending in a certain envelope fluctuates over a 3-month or 12-month period, but right now, there is no way to review this data easily.

Bring on the new reports!

I agree also. The key below the graph is just as useless. I would really like to see the Envelope amounts in a list form (Cells-rows and columns, please!)

Hi Elaine,

I think what Caelan and Lynn were saying is that the graph at the top of the Spending by Month report was useless, not the key. We've since added a table at the bottom that displays spending by Envelope over time so you can more easily analyze your spending.

Hope that helps

Hi Caelan,

We've added your request to show numerical values rather than the position on the graph on the Spending with numbers in our tracker. We'll keep this in mind as we work on the Reports in Goodbudget.

Hi Caelan,

We've updated the Spending by Month report to show a table with all the data beneath the existing chart. Let us know what you think!

I know this is an old thread, but this has to be a common request. I believe the Spending by Month report you are refering to only has the data from the envelopes that had spending occur during that time period. I would like a beginning and ending balance in addition to the spending of each envelope for a monthly report.

Awesome, thank you! This is SUPER helpful.

I was ready to migrate to a different platform, but now with this feature, I can stay with the program I really like. Thanks!
