Import split transactions

I really like the way the import transactions works.  However, I cannot figure out how to link the card transaction with transactions that have been split into multiple envelopes.  If a transaction has been split into multiple envelopes the "existing transaction" should be the total amount before split rather than the split amounts.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

Thanks for posting, and sorry for the troubles! You're right that the Existing Transaction should show the total amount. That way you can match it with the corresponding Transaction to Import. If you're not seeing the full amount on the Existing Transaction side, double check that you entered that transaction correctly with the total amount being represented in the Amount field, and the split amounts going to individual Envelopes.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your quick response.  I checked and you can see that goodbudget knows it is a split transaction because if I hover over it, it says that the total was entire amount.   Is there a setting I need to change to make the existing transactions show as the full amount?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

Thanks for posting that screenshot! It looks like you recorded that Kroger transaction as two separate transactions in Goodbudget, rather than as a single transaction split between multiple Envelopes. I believe the part that says 'Total was (36.12)' is a note that was manually added.

Here's how fix that:

Find those two Kroger transactions and delete them. Next, click on Add Transaction. Enter your Payee and the total Amount of 36.12. Use the 'Envelope' drop down to select 'Split into multiple,' and select the two Envelopes you'd like to split that transaction into as well as the amounts. Be sure to save your changes when you're done.

When you add a split transaction this way, that transaction will appear on the import screen as a single line item so it can be matched to a corresponding one.

I hope that helps!
