I think goodbudget should add note on envelop, so I can make note about what the envelop consist of. I.e- fun envelop ( dinner out, museum wit kids). Child care ( diaper, toys, )

Isn't that what the name of the envelope is for?

That would be long name like "child care- books, toys, diaper, wet wipes, bottles". If I make separate envelop for each sub catagory it will be too many envelops

I like this idea.  In most cases, my envelope names give enough information, but sometimes I like to have envelopes that track certain categories of expenses that are a little varied.  A note would help me to remember what I was thinking when I created it.  It's typically those miscellaneous expenses that don't fit well into any category or that could fit in multiple categories that I struggle with.  It would also help keep me and my wife on the same page when recording transactions.  We think a little differently about things and this would help us coordinate better.

I would also use this. Granted, it isn't a huge deal.... but it would be cool to have a running list of presents under the "Christmas" envelope.

I also would find this very useful - perhaps a popup with the note upon hovering the envelop name.

I have an envelope titled "Memberships." In Microsoft OneNote I keep a note titled "Memberships Envelope," where I list all of my annual memberships and their amounts that this envelope covers. It would be fantastic to have this note right in GoodBudget itself.

Hi Michael,

I've added your vote to our tracker! But if you haven't already done this, for another way to see the information you seem to be looking for, one thing I would suggest would be to schedule those annual memberships as annually recurring expense transactions to your Memberships Envelope. That way you can simply open that Envelope and look through the pending transactions list to see what memberships and amounts you have!

Michael, this does not work well for the memberships where you get the, oh by the way, your membership is going up by $x email a few weeks before it is due.
I track my annual items such as apps , music services detail in a spreadsheet, because I budget the amount plus a typical markup to make up for these surprises. It also helps weed out unauthorized memberships, especially when multiple people use a GB account.

I agree Michael.  I have an envelope for subscriptions, some of which are monthly outgoings, some are annual outgoings and some I would pay manually.  I would be good to have notes against the subscriptions envelope so I can remind myself exactly which subscriptions the envelope is funding.  Otherwise I would have to write it down somewhere, which defeats the purpose of everything being in one place :-)

I saw this has been raised several times on this forum, some a few years ago.  It seems a sensible and straightforward change, so why such a delay?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your vote. I've added it to our tracker as well. In the meantime, using the scheduled transactions tactic I mentioned a few comments up is probably the best way to keep track of those!

We consider every feature request that is made, but we're a small team so we need to prioritize requests that are more popular or pressing. Even when we don't decide to work on a given request right away, we definitely keep track of all of them. We're not working on this particular feature right now, but we'll let you know if those plans change.
